SEAJET 120 UV Varnish – high-gloss wood varnish with UV protection Traditional one-component tung oil varnish – deep gloss and long-lasting protection for wood against sun and sea SEAJET 120 UV Varnish is a traditional one-component tung oil-based varnish designed to protect and bring out the beauty of the wood on your boat. It contains UV absorbers that shield the wood from harmful sunlight, prevent greying and discolouration, and extend the life of the coating. It builds a high, deep gloss and a smooth, taut surface that beautifully enhances the natural grain and colour of the wood. The varnish is abrasion-resistant and suitable for all wooden parts above the waterline – on deck, below deck or outdoors. Technical data Gloss: high gloss Pack sizes: 0.75 l / 2.5 l Coverage: approx. 12–14 m²/l per coat Dry film thickness: approx. 40 µm per coat Application: brush; spray Thinner: SEAJET Thinner U Application temperature: at least 5 °C, humidity up to 80 % Drying times (at 20 °C) Touch dry: 12 hours Recoat: after 24 hours Recommended number of coats and thinning For a deep, “glass-like” finish, apply 5–6 coats: 1st coat: thinned up to 50 % with SEAJET Thinner U (penetrates and saturates the wood) 2nd coat: thinned up to 25 % 3rd and subsequent coats: thinned up to 10 % Directions for use 1. New wood: sand along the grain, remove dust and degrease. Clean oily woods (teak, iroko) with thinner before varnishing. 2. Refinishing: remove damaged or flaking varnish back to sound wood and sand the remaining varnish thoroughly. 3. Apply with a good-quality brush in thin, even coats along the grain. 4. Between coats, lightly sand the surface with P320–P400 abrasive paper and remove the dust. 5. For best results, varnish in the morning in dry weather so the coating can dry sufficiently before the evening damp sets in. Tip Maintain wooden surfaces regularly – once a year, sand lightly and apply 1–2 fresh coats. This way you avoid the costly job of stripping all the varnish.
