Coating systems
A coat only performs when the layers underneath it are right.
Pick a system below and click through the layers. You'll see what goes on the bare hull, what follows, how long each coat needs before the next one, and which products belong to every step.
- 01
Substrate first
Everything starts with a clean, sound, correctly sanded surface. No coating fixes a bad substrate.
- 02
Build up in order
Each layer bonds to the one below it. Skip a step and the coat above has nothing to hold on to.
- 03
Respect drying times
Overcoating too early traps solvent and softens the whole system. Too late and you may need to sand again.
Guide
Which coat goes where
