SEAJET 027 SAIKŌ – copper-free self-polishing antifouling High-performance copper-free antifouling, also suitable for aluminium hulls and sterndrives SEAJET 027 SAIKŌ is a self-polishing antifouling based on a special resin that contains no copper. In contact with water, the surface layer of the coating renews itself slowly and evenly, making it hard for fouling to take hold on the hull and preventing old layers from building up. An added co-biocide effectively prevents the formation of slime (biofilm), which is often the first step towards fouling by algae and barnacles. Because it contains no copper, it is a safe choice for aluminium hulls, sterndrives and outboard motors. It is available in light colours, including pure white. The surface must be clean, dry and free of grease, salt and fouling. Lightly sand the old coating and remove the dust. 2. Stir the paint thoroughly before use. 3. Apply at least 2 coats. Apply an extra coat to exposed areas – the leading edge of the keel, the waterline, the rudder and the drive units. 4. Allow the coating to dry completely before launching. Tip Drying times are longer at low temperatures and high humidity. Never apply a copper-based antifouling to aluminium – SEAJET 027 SAIKŌ is the right choice for these hulls.
