SEAJET 015 SPRAY / UNDERWATER PRIMER
SEAJET 015 Underwater Primer – 400 ml spray Fast-drying primer and barrier coat for the underwater hull in a handy aerosol SEAJET 015 Underwater Primer is a one-component acrylic resin primer for preparing the underwater hull before applying a new antifouling. It acts as a barrier coat that separates the old and new coatings when you don't know which antifouling was applied before, or when the old and new coatings can't be combined. In spray form it is ideal for small touch-ups, hard-to-reach areas and quick spot repairs. Benefits Barrier coat between incompatible coatings – prevents reactions between old and new antifouling Also suitable over Teflon (PTFE) antifoulings, to which other coatings adhere poorly Excellent adhesion to existing, well-bonded coatings Fast drying – you can carry on working the same day Handy aerosol – no brushes, rollers or thinning; easily reaches awkward spots Compatible with all SEAJET antifoulings Areas of use Underwater hulls in GRP (fibreglass) and wood Small touch-ups and local antifouling renovation Hard-to-reach areas: around the skeg, rudder, propeller shaft, keel and through-hull fittings Technical data Contents: 400 ml aerosol Colour: silver Base: one-component acrylic resin Recommended number of coats: 3–4 Coverage: small areas; approx. 0.25 m² per can according to the seller Directions for use The surface must be clean, dry and free of grease, wax and salt. The existing coating must be undamaged and firmly bonded to the substrate. Sand it lightly and remove the dust. Shake the can vigorously for at least 2 minutes before use (until the ball rattles freely). Spray from a distance of approx. 20–30 cm in thin, even coats with overlapping passes. Apply 3–4 thin coats, allowing each one to become surface dry before applying the next. Once dry, apply the SEAJET antifouling of your choice. After use, turn the can upside down and spray until only gas comes out, so the nozzle doesn't clog. Tip Do not apply in direct sunlight, at low temperatures, in high humidity or onto a damp surface. For larger areas, the more economical choice is SEAJET 015 in a tin (0.75 l or 2.5 l), applied by brush, roller or spray gun. ⚠️ On bare aluminium, first apply an epoxy primer, e.g. SEAJET 117 Multi Purpose Epoxy Primer.
