International Intershield 300
This item is intended for B2B sales. International Intershield 300 is a premium two-component, abrasion-resistant epoxy universal primer with aluminium pigment, and the industry standard for the most demanding long-term corrosion protection of steel surfaces. Formulated on proprietary polymer technology, it allows fast curing and overcoating even at low temperatures. It stands out for its exceptional resistance to mechanical damage (abrasion), which reduces the risk of subsequent corrosion from impacts, scratches and wear. Its aluminium pigment (up to 10 % of dry film weight) provides an additional barrier against the spread of corrosion on steel and improved resistance to cathodic disbondment. Intershield 300 is used as a universal primer on all areas of the vessel – underwater hull, decks, superstructure and tanks – for both newbuilding and maintenance work, with more than 30 years of proven performance in the industry. KEY FEATURES two-component pure epoxy coating with aluminium pigment exceptional abrasion resistance and long-term corrosion protection industry standard with more than 30 years of proven performance fast curing, can be applied at low temperatures down to –15 °C (down to –20 °C in certain locations) suitable for use with cathodic protection suitable for potable water tanks (BS6920:2000 certification) suitable for newbuilding and maintenance work suitable for demanding marine and offshore environments AREAS OF USE Intershield 300 is designed for the most demanding professional protection of steel surfaces, where high resistance to mechanical damage matters as much as corrosion protection. underwater hull exterior superstructure and decks offshore structures and platforms water ballast tanks, storage tanks and potable water tanks mechanically prepared shop-primed surfaces or bare steel APPLICATION Before application, surfaces must be properly prepared, clean, dry and free of contaminants, abrasive blasted to Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1:2007) or at least Sa2/SSPC-SP6 (for non-immersed surfaces). The recommended application method is airless spray with a 0.66–0.79 mm tip at a pressure of at least 211 kg/cm² (3000 psi). Smaller areas can be coated by brush or roller (several coats may be required). Use only International GTA220 for thinning and equipment cleaning (or GTA822 for cleaning). Thinning is usually not required. For surface preparation, choice of equipment, application temperatures, drying times and overcoating intervals, always follow the current International Technical Data Sheet (TDS). COMPATIBILITY Intershield 300 is used as the primer in System A (together with Intergard 263 and Interspeed 6400 / Interswift 6800HS) or in System B (together with Intersleek 737 and Intersleek 1100SR). Where the highest level of resistance to mechanical damage is required (e.g. ice conditions, harbour operation, offshore structures), Intershield 300 is the first choice over Intergard 7500 or Intergard 7600. IMPORTANT Intershield 300 is a professional two-component epoxy coating. Part A and Part B form a single system and must be used in the specified mixing ratio of 2.5 : 1. Technical data may vary depending on colour, area of use, coating system and application conditions. Always check the current technical and safety data sheets before use.
