Description
## SEAJET Tie Coat – tie coat for the SEOSIL silicone system
**The essential intermediate layer that makes the silicone adhere and determines the hull colour**
SEAJET Tie Coat is a **one-component, fast-drying tie coat** developed specifically for the **SEAJET SEOSIL (Bioclean Eco)** silicone foul-release system. Silicone does not adhere on its own to the substrate or to conventional coatings, so Tie Coat acts as a **bridge between the primer or old antifouling and the silicone**, ensuring lasting adhesion and a long service life for the entire system.
Since SEOSIL is clear, **Tie Coat determines the final hull colour**. A big advantage is that it can be applied **directly over an existing, well-adhered antifouling** – there is no need to remove the old coating.
### Advantages
- **Ensures adhesion of the SEOSIL silicone coating**
- **Application over existing antifouling** – no need to remove the old coating (if it is in good condition)
- **Determines the hull colour** – available in 4 colours
- **One-component** – no mixing and no pot-life limit
- **Fast drying** – touch dry in just 40 minutes
- **For all materials:** GRP, wood, steel and aluminium (with the correct primer)

### Coating system
- **New GRP and steel:** SEAJET 117 Multipurpose Epoxy Primer (silver) + 2 coats SEAJET Tie Coat + 2 coats SEAJET SEOSIL
- **Wood:** SEAJET 015 Underwater Primer + 2 coats SEAJET Tie Coat + 2 coats SEAJET SEOSIL
- **Existing antifouling (in good condition):** sand with P100 sandpaper + 2 coats SEAJET Tie Coat + 2 coats SEAJET SEOSIL
### Directions for use
1. The surface must be clean, dry and free of grease, salt and fouling. Sand existing antifouling with **P100** sandpaper, remove any flaking areas and remove the dust.
2. Stir Tie Coat well before use and thin with SEAJET Thinner A (15–25 %).
3. Apply **2 coats** at least 4–5 hours apart.
4. After at least **12 hours**, apply 2 coats of SEAJET SEOSIL.
### Tip
Apply only to a dry substrate free of moisture. Tie Coat is intended solely as a base for SEOSIL – on its own it does not protect against fouling.
