It combines the properties of an oil and a varnish, giving wooden surfaces long-lasting protection against UV radiation, moisture, weathering and cracking. Unlike traditional varnishes, Woodskin does not form a hard, brittle surface film; instead it creates a flexible protective layer that moves with the natural shrinking and swelling of the wood. This reduces the risk of peeling and cracking and avoids laborious stripping of old coats when refinishing. The coating penetrates deep into the wood and brings out its natural look and grain. It is suitable for hardwoods and softwoods above the waterline, including doors, windows, rails, handrails, masts and other wooden parts of the boat. Because maintenance is so easy, there is usually no need to sand back to bare wood before a maintenance coat, which significantly cuts maintenance time.
